Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications

Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications (XUPT) is located in the southern cultural area of Xi'an city. XUPT has now become an engineering-based university which focuses on information and science technology, while jointly developing management science, economics, humanities, legal science and art. It was the only higher education institute in northwest China established by the former Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) and is now one of the universities that delivers the “Plan for Educating and Training Outstanding Engineers” which was instituted by the Ministry of Education. XUPT is a People's Liberation Army (PLA) reserve officers' training base. It is also one of the universities that have been approved by the government to enroll international students to study academic courses, and it has been authorized to confer Bachelors and Masters Degrees.

Today, XUPT has two campuses: the Changan campus and the Yanta campus, covering a total area of 1500 mu. The total constructed area is more than 730,000 square meters. The library includes 1,500,000 collections. The students enrolled at the university amount to 18,000, studying 43 undergraduate majors and 47 graduate majors. It has faculty and staff over 1,000. XUPT is composed of 14 schools: School of Communication and Information Engineering, School of Electronic Engineering, School of Computer Science & Technology, School of Automation, School of Economics and Management, School of Management Engineering, School of Sciences, School of Foreign Languages, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Digital Arts, School of National Defense, School of International Education, Graduate School , College of Higher Vocational Technology Education, Department of Physical Education, Institute of Things Internets and Integration of Informatization and Industrialization.

XUPT has been actively involved with international academic exchanges and cooperation, having established cooperative relations with prestigious colleges and universities in over 40 countries in Europe, United States and Asia-pacific area. XUPT is also involved in joint research programs, cooperative training of graduates, along with other academic and scholarly exchanges. Every year the school enrolls overseas students from Asia-Pacific area, ASEAN countries, America, Germany and other countries to study specialist areas and Chinese. The university also offers scholarships for international students who come to study in the university.

With a proud tradition of excellence in teaching and research, XUPT has a faculty consisting of academicians and a team of eminent professors and researchers. This has helped the university earn a great reputation throughout society. Ever since its establishment, XUPT has fostered over 60,000 high-grade graduates in all fields, most of whom work in communication enterprises, communication manufacturing enterprises, and information-related positions. Many of them have already become backbones of the business while some have reached important leadership positions.
